Q: When a physician sees a patient and writes two orders on the same order sheet for that visit, can it be counted as two orders on the MDS?
A: When a physician writes two orders on the same day it counts as one day of orders and is coded as a 1.
The instruction in the MDS 3.0 RAI User’s Manual is as follows:
O0700: Physician Orders
Enter the number of days during 14-day look-back period (or since admission, if less than 14 days ago) in which a physician changed the resident¹s orders.
