The American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordinators (AANAC) is launching a new association for nurses in long-term and post-acute care, according to Long-Term Living. The association will be called the American Association of Directors of Nursing Services, or AADNS.
After holding multiple nurse leadership summits, the association determined that there were unique and specific challenges to LTC nursing, especially directors of nursing services. Particularly, standards and competencies of the positions, as well as model of care delivery were some of the priorities identified by LTC nursing directors. In early 2015, AANAC acquired the American Association for Long Term Care Nursing.
