Submit comments on IMPACT Act quality measures by May 3, 2018

To satisfy requirements of the Improving Medicare Post-Acute Care Transformation Act of 2014 (IMPACT Act), CMS has contracted with RTI International and Abt Associates to develop quality measures for the transfer of health information and care preferences domain that may be used in post-acute care settings such as skilled nursing facilities, inpatient rehab facilities, long-term care hospitals, and home health agencies.

CMS is current seeking comment on two potential measures:

  1. Medication Profile Transferred to Provider
  2. Medication Profile Transferred to Patient

The comment period opened March 19, 2018, and will close on May 3, 2018. CMS is particularly interested in comments that address the measure titles, including additional title suggestions and feedback regarding whether the current titles capture the measure concept; specifications (i.e., potential impact and unintended consequences of the measures, potential measure exclusions, and potential benefits); help identifying the most important data elements to be transferred in a medication profile to meet the measure’s criteria; and feedback regarding information about route of transmission.

More information on this project can be found in CMS’ draft of the measure. Comments should be sent to TOHPublicComments@rti.org by close of business on May 3.
