CMS announced on August 22 that it incorrectly calculated baseline performance rates for the SNF Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) initiative, according to a report from LeadingAge.
The first results published in fall 2018 showed that 73% of SNFs lost money under VBP, and only 27% received money back from Medicare. However. these results are no longer final, as CMS will release corrected score reports.
The corrected reports are to be published in SNF’s CASPER folder no later than August 31. SNFs do not need to take any action after the report is published.
CMS will be hosting a call, Understanding Your SNF VBP Program Performance Score Report, on August 27 from 1:30 to 3:00 ET. Registration information for the call can be found here.
