In a letter penned to CMS administrator Seema Verma, industry trade group LeadingAge requested a delay in Phase III of the Requirements of Participation (RoP), citing lack of guidance from CMS. The letter, signed by LeadingAge president and CEO Katie Smith Sloan, states that CMS has failed to provide intelligence on how SNFs will be assessed on several measures.
Despite the RoP Phase III implementation date of November 28, Sloan states that CMS has yet to provide guidance on how SNFs will be assessed on the following requirements:
- person-centered care planning
- trauma informed care
- behavioral health services
- .infection preventionist
- compliance and ethics programs
- physical environment
- training requirements and competencies of staff
- monitoring dietary
The letter also claims that state survey agencies will suffer if the delay is not implemented, because without instructions from CMS, citations will likely vary widely between facilities.
