Infection preventionist needed for COVID-19 prevention in SNFs

At least one infection preventionist (IP) should be on-site full time at SNFs with more than 100 residents, or SNFs that provide on-site ventilator or hemodialysis services, according to new CDC guidance.

This individual is responsible for developing IPC policies and procedures, performing infection surveillance, providing competency-based training of HCP, and auditing adherence to recommended IPC practices.

The CDC has created an online training course to help acclimate individuals to an IP role in a SNF.
