Home health owners to pay back $3.1 million to state Medicaid program

A home health care company and its owners must “pay back $3.1 M to resolve allegations that they falsely billed the state’s Medicaid Program (MassHealth),” according to an October 16, 2020, press release from attorney general Maura Healey.

Altranais Home Care, LLC (Altranais) of Lowell, Mass.  is expected to repay the money to resolve allegations, stemming from January 2014. In the allegations, the company and its owners knowingly or in reckless disregard to billing requirements “submitted false claims to MassHealth and MassHealth Managed Care Entities for home health services that had not been appropriately authorized by a physician,” the press release says.
