Staff reluctance slows the rollout of COVID-19 vaccinations at SNFs

The rollout of COVID-19 vaccinations to SNFs has been slowed by staff hesitation according to CVS Health Corp. Another issue with vaccines is that a number of SNFs overstated the number of residents by 20-30%. This can be accounted for by both resident deaths, and the reluctance of families to send loved ones to nursing homes during the pandemic.

“Based on feedback from our field teams, we’ve encountered more vaccine hesitancy among staff when compared with residents,” a CVS spokesman said. Despite the slowdown, CVS officials still expect to meet the federal goal of administrating 8,000 doses to SNFs by January 25.
